Sleeping In at Last! Relaxing in Ceduna

Slept in, had a Continental Breakfast 'on the house' and did a reccie  of the town.

It's the first decent town we've been to since Perth.
It's a pretty town, well laid out and has an 'I' Centre, supermarket, chemist, hardware supplies and a variety of shops - all we need - even a hair dresser!

Located on the beautiful shores of Murat Bay on the Australian Bight, Ceduna is the Oyster Capital of Australia.
It is a famous whale - watching destination
and has a spectacular jetty where one can view its amazing sunsets.

Ceduna is also the first golf hole of the par 72 Nullarbor Links Golf Course. The hole is called 'Oyster Beds'.
The hole at each roadhouse includes a green and tee and somewhat rugged, outback - style, natural terrain fairway. A Certificate of Completion is issued to all players that have their score card stamped at every hole.

Ceduna is also a 'Dry Area'.
It is an offence to drink alcohol in a public place and purchasers need to produce ID to buy anything alcoholic. Del's checked this out already!

A bit of unrelated info!
Just discovered that 'the dog fence', which starts in Queensland and extends to the Great Australian Bight, is the longest continuous fence in the world - and we actually crossed a part of it when we crossed a cattle grid between Yalata and Nundroo a few days' ago.
The local sheep flocks seem pretty happy, so it must be working!

  1. Paul has a question: from here onwards, is this a new route, or have you travelled this way before? Enjoy Ceduna, let us know about the wheel and the haircuts (pics please!) xx

  2. Brilliant resume, thanks. It looks a “sensible” town - our sort of place. Just wondering if the oysters are natural or farmed? Be interested to know if you spot any differences in a dry or wet township. On your previous trip(s) you mentioned aboriginal drinkers - is there an indigenous presence in the south? Off to Google Earth now! Rest well…
