Resting Up in Merredin!
Stored our bikes outside our room last night.
Slept like babies and woke this morning to an icy chill! Even got the beanies out!
The central shopping area is old, a little run down but bigger than we originally thought.
Several businesses are for sale but there is a cinema, several cafes, a pub (for sale), a supermarket and a train station. What more could we ask?
We spent the afternoon checking tomorrow's ride. Not as straightforward as we'd planned.
Southern Cross is 109kms away.
To break the journey, we'd hoped to stay at Bodallin Roadhouse, a 58kms ride, but have discovered that it's now closed (a victim of COVID).
Our second option is to stay at Carrabin Roadhouse, 40kms from here, which means a longer ride to Southern Cross.
Carrabin Roadhouse is changing ownership and cannot guarantee a room, so we could be camping again - we're becoming used to shunting trains and revving road trains!
NB. Thankyou to all who have left comments on our blog. Much appreciated.
